From 2006 to 2023, Hearts for Homes assisted 968 senior homeowners, completed over 6,124 projects, and engaged volunteers in 86,519 hours of service, affording these seniors the ability to age in place, safely and with dignity. Last year, Hearts for Homes served 103 seniors. Currently, Hearts for Homes is caring for 90 households and 96 seniors. Once a senior is a Hearts for Homes client, she/he remains a client until his/her life story in that home is concluded.
Hearts for Homes is seeking operational funds to continue to build capacity and future sustainability of our programs in order to meet the growing demand for these no-cost home repair services in the Denton County community. Most importantly, your donation is crucial to the home repair program enabling Hearts for Homes to purchase necessary building materials, especially as service and material costs continue to rise, to make vital repairs for senior homeowners living on the edge of poverty so they may age in place, safely and with dignity. We are so grateful for our North Texas Giving Day donors. Your dollars equip us in our efforts to continue providing the care and service they have come to depend on over the last 18 years and give them the dignity they deserve as they continue to age in place. Looking forward, we have the infrequent but very necessary challenge of finding home replacements for a couple of our clients whose homes are simply beyond repair. The needs of these disadvantaged seniors are great, but with caring donors like you, we are meeting that challenge and lifting seniors out of these dire situations one repair, one volunteer workday, one house at a time.
Volunteers are an equally crucial component of the work we do. We have a great need volunteers with construction skills in carpentry, plumbing, drywall and more. Businesses, groups, individuals, youth and individuals of all skill levels are needed to help lend a hand and make a difference in the lives of seniors in need. All of these repair needs will require many hands to get the work done! We hope you will join us and be part of these beautiful ongoing life stories. Thank you for your passion, compassion, time and generosity in giving with purpose!
Hearts for Homes is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation established to provide hope and dignity through home repair, maintenance and safety renovations, affording low-income seniors a safe, comfortable, and well-functioning home. Since 2006, Hearts for Homes has been providing no-cost home repairs to improve the living conditions of low-income senior homeowners in Denton County, TX.
Our needs include the following:
* Time - Volunteers of all ages and skill levels are needed to accomplish our ongoing mission. Organize a team from your church, club or office to work on a senior's home. Come out to a project as an individual when you have a Saturday or maybe help mow a lawn throughout the summer months. Join our Board of Directors or serve on our committees if you have more time to offer.
* Talents - skills such as plumbing, electrical, roofing, carpentry, fundraising, event planning, case management, social work and more are just a few of the areas we need to help grow and benefit more seniors in need.
* Treasure - We can do all things with the right amount of funding to hire additional staff, pay for skilled services that volunteers are unable to fulfill, purchase materials needed to make repairs and more. Perhaps you have a plumbing supply, roofing company, tree trimming business or similar and are willing to donate in-kind goods/services that can be used to help make repairs. Consider being a Corporate Sponsor by adopting a senior home or giving on an annual basis to make a lasting impact.
All of these things help make Hearts for Homes possible. We hope you will consider joining our cause to make a difference for disadvantaged seniors in our community. YOU make all the difference for those in need.
Hearts for Homes does not discriminate. Everyone and anyone engaged with our cause is valued for the heart, skills, compassion, dedication and strengths each unique individual contributes to this mission.
