Things continue to be busy for the animals of Hood County! Last year H.A.N.D was able to help over 1000 animals in a variety of ways. Our vaccination clinics have grown and increased, we held two stand alone microchip clinics and continue to help spay and neuter community animals and pets. The harder times of the economy have made our services even more vital to our area.
We have continued to transport animals to rescues, volunteers have fostered numerous animals, including a group of Parvo puppies, medical fosters, helped a shelter get sick animals in quarantine until they were ready for adoption and continued to help lower the number of feral cats and kittens by getting them the medical treatments they need, spayed/neutered and sent to shelters to hopefully be adopted.
Donations and our dedicated volunteers is what makes all of this work possible.
Helping Animals in NeeD (H.A.N.D.) began because several animal lovers in the Hood County, Granbury, TX area have been rescuing animals for years – fostering, adopting, transporting, and raising money. No matter how hard we worked, there were ALWAYS too many unwanted animals. The only REAL solution is to SPAY & NEUTER animals to stop using killing as the birth control “solution.” We formed our non-profit organization to target funding for spay and neuter surgeries to help end overpopulation, abuse, and neglect.
We provide financial assistance for animal sterilizations (including community cats). HAND also reaches out to economically challenged areas of our community to provide pet vaccinations for free or low cost.
We continue to work toward our goal of low cost spay and neuter clinics for residents of Hood County and surrounding areas. We have no interest from a veterinarian willing to provide their services so we are hoping to raise money to hire one for clinics. We also need financial donations to buy the equipment and supplies.
Through monetary donations we are also able to continue our low cost/free vaccination clinics in disadvantaged communities run by volunteers.
Donations allow us to financially assist in the spaying and neutering of animals (including community/feral cats). Currently, we are sending these animals to low cost veterinary clinics outside of our county because no low cost alternative exists in our county.
We would love to have veterinarian's that are willing to donate their time join our organization whenever time permits so we could do more vaccination clinics and hopefully, one day, spay and neuters.
