Our Needs

Education is a fundamental right for every child, yet minority children with dyslexia from low-income families face unique challenges that impede their academic success.  At Hope Academy for Dyslexia, a nonprofit elementary school, we are committed to providing equitable educational opportunities for low-income students with dyslexia. Our current enrollment is 80% minority.

To support this mission, we seek funding to establish a scholarship program for low-income students with dyslexia.

The Challenge:  Dyslexia, a specific learning disability affecting reading and related language-based processing skills, poses significant hurdles in a child's academic journey.  ONE IN FIVE STUDENTS HAVE DYSLEXIA.  These students require specialized instruction, individualized learning plans, and additional resources to thrive.  For low-income minority families, accessing these necessary supports can be particularly challenging due to financial constraints.

Impact on Students:  Without proper intervention, students with dyslexia may struggle with reading, writing, and comprehension, leading to poor academic performance and diminished self-esteem.  These challenges can have long-term effects, including lower high school graduation rates, limited access to higher education, and reduced employment opportunities.

At Hope Academy for Dyslexia, we believe every child deserves the chance to succeed regardless of socioeconomic status.  Our scholarship program will provide low-income students with dyslexia the following:

1.  Specialized Instructions: Funding for trained educators who specialize in teaching students with dyslexia.

2. Individualized Support: Development and implementation of personalized learning plans tailored to each student's needs.

3. Assistive Technology: Access to tools and technologies that facilitate learning for students with dyslexia.

4.  Tutoring Services: One-on-one and small group classroom sessions to reinforce classroom learning.

The expected outcome of the scholarship program is to achieve the following for low-income students with dyslexia:

- Improved reading and writing skills

- Enhanced academic performance across subjects

- Increase self-confidence and motivation.

- Higher rates of reading advancement and graduation.

- Better long-term educational and career prospects.

By investing in the education of low-income students with dyslexia, we are helping individual children reach their full potential and fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.  Your support for this scholarship program will make a profound difference in the lives of these students, empowering them to overcome their challenges and achieve their dreams.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a lasting impact on our community. Together, we can ensure that every child has the chance to succeed, regardless of their learning differences, race, or financial background.

Mission

At Hope Academy for Dyslexia, we are passionate about empowering a dyslexic child with the ability to read. Our mission like our name is to provide HOPE to students and parents. We want to celebrate the strengths of each child. Our goal is to see each child go from "I can't" to "I can" and watch as confidence builds and hope renews.

Needs

Scholarship Funds: Help us provide financial aid to dyslexic students who struggle to read. These students need dyslexia therapy; some may read at least two years behind their current grade. We aim to help all students with dyslexia or poor reading skills learn to read at grade level. Our enrollment is 80% minority and low-income. Every contribution makes a significant difference in their education journey.

Computers: Access to technology is crucial for our students' success. We're looking to upgrade our computer lab to ensure every student has the tools to thrive.
