Hunt County Shared Ministries was organized to help meet basic emergency needs of families residing within Hunt County. Organized in 1980 the ministry has grown from a small pantry to providing services ranging from food to prescription medicines. Each year, FISH (as we're more commonly known) serves over 8,000 families in crisis which included over 28,000 individuals.
FISH brings hope to victims of neglect, abuse, those with serious illness, those with loss of jobs and other crisis situations. FISH provides food, support to assist in payment of electric, gas, water and sewer bills, rent or mortgage, assist with access to medical treatment either by payment of office visits, lab work, x-rays, prescription assistance, dental office visits and treatment, and access to obtain eye exams, glasses and other medical treatment.
FISH is supported by a coalition of churches, individuals, local businesses, a partner agency with the United Way of Hunt County and the North Texas Food Bank.
Hunt County Shared Ministries is a 501 (c) (3) Non-Profit and all donations are tax-deductible
Our Needs
Our 2024-205 MARK program is fully funded. Thank you!
100% of the North Texas Giving Day funds will be used to purchase food for the holiday food basket program called, "Hunt County Gives."
Each food basket contains enough food and ingredients for a complete holiday meal, including meat.
Data from Hunt County Gives 2023:
- 2 Holidays: November and December
- 2,500 boxes (2,500 Hunt County families)
- $150.00 per box
- 500 volunteers to prepare/pack the boxes; delivery to distribution sites and working delivery days
We are predicting 3,000 families for the 2024 holiday season. Hunt County Shared Ministries relies on generous donations to provide these boxes of food which provide relief and joy to the families of Greenville and Hunt County.
