IAMGF was founded in the fall of 2018 with the goal of creating life-changing opportunities for southern Dallas youth through golf and golf-related programs at Cedar Crest Golf Course. Aimed at young people in the surrounding community, we utilize our three pillars of junior golf instruction, job training, and college scholarships to improve the lives and outcomes of participants in the program.
The I AM a Golfer Pillar allows us to provide affordable and high-quality golf, character, and life skill instruction, playing opportunities, funding for tournament fees, and personal mentoring for area juniors ranging in skill from beginner to advanced.
The I AM an Intern Pillar allows us to provide employment opportunities and jobs at Cedar Crest Golf Course for high school and college students. Under this pillar, students gain work experience and develop communication, customer service, sales, and other fundamental business skills.
The I AM a Scholar Pillar allows us to provide scholarship opportunities to IAMGF participants and youth graduating from southern Dallas high schools.
Combined, our focus on these three pillars allows us to provide area young people with structure, guidance, and a roadmap to becoming responsible, productive community citizens.
Our Needs
Funding the program is our biggest need, followed by staffing programs and events. Each pillar has unique costs and presents an opportunity for full or partial funding to help offset the costs.
For example:
$1,200 covers the annual costs of a participant in the Golfer pillar.
$3,500 covers the cost of 1 college scholarship awarded via the Scholar pillar.
$5,000 covers the cost of a 10-week internship through the Intern pillar.
In addition to full and/or partial funding of programs, we also need volunteers to serve as leaders on sub-committees and others willing to assist with direct delivery of our weekend and after-school programs.
