INTERNATIONAL LITERACY AND DEVELOPMENT
Focused on Refugees in the DFW Area
International Literacy and Development promotes HUMAN FLOURISHING through economic, educational and social development in communities that are under-resourced.
In North Texas our work focuses on the Refugee Community in the Vickery Meadow neighborhood of Dallas.
Dallas receives hundreds of refugees every year who find themselves in need of resources, support, and friendship in order to make a successful transition from their previous home to their new one.
International Literacy and Development equips refugees with guidance and tools to successfully navigate life in America. ESL, literacy, civics and citizenship education, small business development, and other practical resources are provided by ILAD staff who are dedicated to the refugee community and view their presence as a strength and asset to the larger DFW area.
Our Needs
ILAD is currently seeking funding to provide services that support our refugee neighbors as they navigate the path to becoming engaged and contributing members of their new home. International Literacy and Development has an established program among the Rohingya refugee community and funds this year will go in part toward the continuation and advancement of English, citizenship, and community health education as well as special event programming.
In addition to our Rohingya Program, International Literacy and Development engages the broader refugee community through entrepreneurial business development training. This training is designed to equip members of the refugee community with the skills, information, and support they need to open and operate successful small businesses in the DFW area. Funds this year will go in part to the continuation and advancement of the Refugee Business Development Center in DFW.
Let's equip our refugee neighbors in DFW with the tools they need to succeed! We are stronger together!!
