When Vicky Keahey rescued Tahoe, an 18-month-old female cougar in 1991, she unknowingly embarked on a lifelong mission to save neglected, unwanted, and often abused exotic and domestic animals.

Today, In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue & Educational Center, a nonprofit founded in 2000 under Keahey's leadership, has rescued and cared for over 300 exotic cats at its sanctuary in Northeastern Collin County.

The safe haven located in the quiet countryside outside Wylie is now recognized as one of the nation’s leading big cat sanctuaries and is currently the “forever home” to more than 70 lions, tigers, cougars, servals, and other exotic felines.

And while many of the stories of our exotic animals raised in captivity begin tragically, In-Sync Exotics is blessed to provide the magnificent creatures with medical attention, exceptional living conditions, a proper diet, and much more — ultimately transforming their lives.

In-Sync Exotics is entirely funded by the generosity of individuals, corporations, and foundations through donations and grants. To continue to run a successful sanctuary, your support is needed to pay for the care of our residents and for general maintenance of the facilities.

Because our exotic cats cannot be released to the wild, they will remain in our care for the rest of their lives. In the case of Minnie, the tiger cub we rescued in 2023, that could be 20 years of care that we have signed up to provide.  We need your help to continue providing them with the lives they deserve.

This year, we've set our North Texas Giving Day goal at $200,000. These funds will help ensure our ability to care for our incredible animals, offering them the environment, diet, and medical attention they need.

Thanks to the Sharp Foundation, Larry & Pam Little, Tigers in America in partnership with an anonymous donor,  Ms. Ruth Mutch, Ms. Barbara Little, and Ms. Robin Gibson, we have already secured $95,000 in matching funds!  That means every dollar donated, up to $95,000, will be matched, dollar for dollar!

If a wish could be granted, ours would be a world where sanctuaries like ours are no longer needed. Until that day comes, we are committed to caring for these animals for the rest of their lives.  Please join us in this commitment with a donation to In-Sync Exotics today.

(* Please be aware that if you check the "Anonymous" box when donating, In-Sync Exotics is NOT provided with your name or contact information.  Because of this, we will be unable to properly thank you for your support.  We recommend you check the boxes to hide your name and amount instead.  We will never share, sell, or otherwise misuse your contact information, but we want to be sure to thank you for your support.)

Giving Activity

Mission

“To provide a caring, safe haven to some of God’s most beautiful creatures. We put their needs above all else; the old, the maimed, the unwanted can find sanctuary here.”

In-Sync Exotics is a sanctuary—not a zoo—which rescues abused, neglected, and unwanted exotic felines. We provide them with a safe, forever home, complete with the highest quality of care, including the proper environment, nutrition, veterinary care, and enrichment.

In-Sync Exotics is entirely funded by individuals, corporations, and foundations through donations and grants. To continue our work, we seek funds to cover recurring costs such as food (over $20,000 per month), veterinary care (more than $240,000 annually), and the general maintenance costs of running a successful sanctuary. All our exotic cats remain in our care for the rest of their lives, and we need your help to continue giving them the lives they deserve.

Needs

Caring for our exotic family members is a significant and ongoing commitment, with annual expenses exceeding $1.3 million. This includes over $20,000 per month for food and more than $240,000 annually for veterinary care, not to mention the general maintenance required to run a successful sanctuary.

These expenses underscore the importance of our fundraising efforts, especially during North Texas Giving Day, one of our primary opportunities to secure the funds necessary to continue our mission.

This year, we’ve set our North Texas Giving Day goal at $200,000. Your donations will directly support the daily care of these magnificent creatures, ensuring they have the proper environment, nutrition, medical attention, and enrichment they deserve. With your help, we can provide them with the best possible life in their forever home.

The Sharp Foundation has already committed to a $50,000 match! Starting now, every dollar you donate, up to $50,000, will be matched dollar for dollar—doubling the impact of your generosity.

Some of our cats may live to be 20 years old, and because they cannot be returned to the wild, we are dedicated to caring for them throughout their lives. Your support is crucial to our mission.
