ITH is a Texas non-profit dedicated to creating affordable housing for low- to moderate-income families. But we know that the goals of affordable housing are not met by simply placing a roof over someone’s head.
ITH has two goals: (1) to help cities and developers create more mixed-income communities in high opportunity areas and (2) give low- and moderate-income residents the tools to thrive.
We believe affordable housing in high-opportunity areas can create transformative and generation change.
Today, we are seeking donors to help fund afterschool care for resident children at Tobias Place. Tobias Place will open its doors this winter with 300 apartments for moderate to low-income families in the Worth Heights Neighborhood, just south of downtown Fort Worth. Tobias Place, named for Toby Tobias, a long-time community leader, will help ensure that families who want to live or stay in this neighborhood are not displaced by the rising gentrification in the area.
We will be partnering with Victory Forest Community Center to provide a hot meal and afterschool care for resident children. We have secured up to 60 spots for children ages 5 - 14, and we are currently working on a scholarship to defray most of the costs of the program.
We need approximately $24,000 to cover the remaining costs, and we hope to raise at least half of that today! For $200, you can provide one child with afterschool care for an entire school year.
