Irving Youth Theatre (IYT) began in January of 2023 and has since produced Aladdin, Jr., Finding Nemo, Jr. and Moana, Jr. and impacted the lives of at least 60 DFW-area kids and their families!  IYT is sponsored by Entertainment Series of Irving(ESI) which was organized in 1955.  ESI provides a wide variety of live, quality entertainment to the Irving community. ESI offers a superior level of programming which both entertains and expands the musical horizons of our patrons. ESI envisions extending its programs to local schools by offering to students workshop experiences conducted by individual arts and performing groups as a way to educate and encourage the "future patrons" of the arts. Concert selections are often based on their availability and cost of student outreach programs. ESI is an all volunteer organization and are considering the value of introducing the youth to live musical productions, ESI offers deep discounts for students as well as family groups to attend our season programs.

Irving Youth Theatre is open to all young people in the DFW metroplex no matter what school they attend. Our productions have featured children in Kindergarten through 12th grades, with each show having a targeted performer age range. These children, and the families and audiences who support the shows, have a life-changing experience of being a part of a musical theatre show! Live theatre helps create community, empathy, collaboration and promotes hard work, builds confidence, and brings joy to the cast, crew, and audience. Being a part of a show is truly a life-changing experience and we want every young person to have the opportunity to be a part of the show!

The budget for Beauty and the Beast, Jr is about $20,000 Little Mermaid, Jr will be about $15,000 The Lion King, Jr Summer Camp will be about $5,000 In addition to financial donations, we LOVE to have sweat equity - volunteers to help build and paint sets, gather and make props, help organize costumes, sell program ads, request donations, work backstage, usher, sell concessions and merchandise and purchase tickets to the show! How will you support Irving Youth Theatre?

Mission

Empowering young voices through the performing arts.

By providing a supportive environment which encourages youth to achieve their potential while they learn, discover, and create, young people in the Irving community are empowered to practice empathy and develop confidence while they shine on the stage or behind the scenes.

Needs

Funds - shows cost between $5,000-$20,000 to produce. We do NOT want to pass along that cost to our young people. Donations provide scholarships for families who may not be able to afford being in a show

Corporate sponsorship - do you know someone who would like to sponsor a show or a season of shows or help start a scholarship fund for Irving Youth Theatre students??

Volunteers - set building, prop making/gathering, advertising, makeup assistance, ticket sales, ushers, lighting, sound, fundraising events, ..

Donations - set pieces, props, costumes, raffle drawings, merchandise, concessions

Special - does anyone have access to a rental space that could house Irving Youth Theatre as a rehearsal, storage, and performance location for a nominal fee??

Equity Statement

All are welcome and included. IYT families come from all over the world! Our shows are open to students in Kindergarten through 12th grades no matter which school (or homeschool) they attend. Each show has a different targeted age-range for performers. Families must be located within the DFW metroplex in order to rehearse and perform in Irving. Students may participate on the stage or behind the scenes. IYT provides scholarships for young people to be able to participate no matter their family's finances. Families are required to volunteer and participate in the production of the shows as Irving Youth Theatre is an all-volunteer organization.
