Dedicated to providing compassionate support to the seriously ill, their families and caregivers, and to being an educational resource for crisis ministry.

We carry out this mission in the following ways:

Compassionate Support to Hospital Patients & Caregivers

• Our Board-Certified Chaplains and trained Chaplain Volunteers visit the seriously ill in hospitals throughout Texas

Education for Crisis Ministry

• Pastoral Care training seminars for aspiring chaplains, church leaders, and volunteers

• Book discussions and faith conversations for caregivers and ministry practitioners

• Intensive chaplaincy summer internships for university students

Texas hospitals call our attention to the tremendous pain, suffering, and loneliness that too often fills their corridors. Life’s unexpected losses provide the space into which Lifeline Chaplaincy enters with open hearts to extend compassion, share in suffering, and offer hope.

Our Needs

  1. We are actively training additional chaplain volunteers to provide bedside visits as more hospitals reopen their doors to volunteers. Your support underwrites our training for chaplain volunteers and helps us place well-prepared volunteers into hospitals to encourage and journey with patients, families, and staff who battle serious illnesses. We hope to train and badge 30 to 50 new chaplain volunteers within the next 12 to 15 months.
  2. We welcomed 8 student interns in 2022 after a two-year pandemic-induced pause. Your funding helps Lifeline Chaplaincy recruit, train, and host 9-12 college interns during the summer of 2023. Your support offers top-quality training and experience to these students. Past interns have shared that their internship experiences propelled them into discovering their calling to a career in chaplaincy.
  3. Your support allows us to be an educational resource for families, congregations, ministry leaders, and communities. Your help enables us to offer book studies on caregiving, seminar training in walking alongside others going through grief and loss, and workshops for active listening skills to better accompany those battling illness and loss. Your donation provides resources and tools for this training that truly helps to make our community better and stronger.
