The Mammogram Poster Girls (MPG) focus on providing mammograms and breast cancer diagnostics to women in the southern sector of Dallas--where the need is great. The southern sector has the largest population of women of color in Dallas county.* Women of color in the southern area of Dallas County are 1.4 times more likely to receive a late-state diagnosis, and 1.2 times more likely to die of breast cancer than in the rest of Dallas county. (Komen report) Early detection is key to a better outcome--mammograms save lives. MPG has provided 2,000 mammograms and diagnostic procedures, free of charge, to women in N. Texas. Saving lives...one mammogram at a time.
Our Needs
Mammogram Poster Girls needs donations to help support our ongoing Two-Fer Tuesday program; get a mammogram, get a meal. The Two-Fer Tuesday was created in 2020 (during the pandemic) to help support our struggling service economy, while also providing life-saving screening mammograms. Two-fer Tuesday is a partnership created by the Mammogram Poster Girls with Methodist Health System, and locally-owned MWOB restaurants. Two-Fer Tuesdays are held the first Tuesday of each month. Each Two-Fer Tuesday MPG provides a mammogram, free of charge for under/uninsured patients. MPG also provides a meal/restaurant gift card (purchased from a locally-owned MWOB restaurant) for each patient served on the Methodist Mobile Mammography Unit. The Two-Fer Tuesday events have been fully booked from day one, and very well-received. MPG is seeking funding to continue this program through 2025.
