Apart from religious services for the downtown faithful, Masjid Al-Islam runs the Beacon of Light Community Center in South Dallas. Our premier program serves the homeless and working poor. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic hot meals were served for the homeless in a community center. This allowed the poor not only a meal, but a space to socialize and feel safe. Since the pandemic we have continued our work, focusing on the working poor with drive through pick ups for struggling families.

In addition to the Beacon of Light, our prayer space is in an old and aging building. We need to update that building to keep our prayers and services up and running for the community.

Our Needs

Our current place of worship is several decades old and is in dire conditions. We need funds for a new structure to better serve our community. As we routinely serve the homeless and working poor, the current state of the building puts these programs at risk.

Mission

Masjid Al-Islam is an Islamic Community in association with the global Islamic community, which proclaim in word and in deed the universal message of Al-Islam, that there is but one God (Allah) and one human family. We are committed to establish a balanced community life in its broadest sense, witnessing the eternal wisdom of the

words of Allah and the life exemplified by Prophet Muhammed (PBUH). We will cultivate the patterned growth of human excellence and good character through building valuable relationships with all God conscious people.

Our Beacon of Light Community Center has provided meals for the homeless and working poor for many years. Since its inception near 10 years ago, we have fed more than 500,000 meals. Additionally Masjid Al-Islam runs the annual Day of Dignity in South Dallas to provide more services from meals to clothing and other supplies for the needy.

Our current place of worship is several decades old and is in dire conditions. We need funds for a new structure to better serve our community. As we routinely serve the homeless and working poor, the current state of the building puts these programs at risk.
