Every week, our staff and volunteers take our mobile resource buses out to build relationships by providing immediate relief with soup, water, socks, hygiene kits, and help to our homeless friends. We believe that consistency is one of the keys to building trust and getting people the help that they need.
Metro Relief is person-centered and solution focused.
People experiencing homelessness face huge burdens on the streets. Our outreach team reduces those burdens by meeting people wherever they are on the streets and creating a personalized plan of action for every step of the way forward.
Our mission is to help our friends on the street overcome obstacles thrown their way. We work to break down barriers and build trust. In returning weekly to our outreach location, we become people they can rely on. The beginning of our journeys with them start when they ask us for advice, assistance, and advocacy. This allows us to connect them to available community resources and services, in which we then encourage their efforts towards self-support and recovery.
We have helped thousands this year with essential needs like food, water, hygiene kits and other necessities.
From January - June of 2023 we have engaged with a total of 1,384 people. We have traveled a total of 20,668 miles to get to our clients, and have given rides to 215 of them. There was a total of 191 vital documents that we ordered and obtained for those who had the misfortune of losing theirs. We have diverted 162 people into shelters, treatment centers, transitional living facilities, and have had the opportunity to send a few home to a family member or friend. We have also found permanent housing for 48 people, they now have their own homes and have the chance for a fresh start. Each person that has gotten off the street represents months of hard work from our case managers to ensure that our friends are well taken care of.
Metro Relief is relentless in pursuing solutions for those experiencing homelessness. We are mobile, person centred and solution focussed.
We need your help so we can meet the growing demand for more food, water, coats, supplies, fuel, vehicles, and case workers. This will help expand our impact in the DFW metroplex homeless communities. Partner with us and/or support us financially to help provide needs and resources for the homeless, or to help fund fuel, vehicles, provide equipment and train new staff.
