$75,000 Goal

The Youth Resource Center’s monthly Math Competition, held on the first Saturday of each month, has become a popular event, drawing in more than 40 students. What makes these kids get up early on a Saturday to do MATH, you ask? While the opportunity to win a Math Champion certificate is certainly a draw, it's the understanding that mastering STEM – science, technology, engineering, and math – is key to their future success.

In the spirit of our monthly Math Competition, Let’s do the Math. If 40 students participate in every Math Competition and each of them receives a certificate, how many certificates are we printing each year? That’s 480 certificates! If an algebra book costs $25, and we need books for 20 students, how much money do we need? $500. If it costs $50 to provide groceries to two student’s families for one week, how many families can we feed with a $1000 donation? That’s 40 families! The point is, when we do the math we can all see how quickly things can add up, and that’s why we need you. Your gifts this North Texas Giving Day can help empower our students and their families with some of the things the need most, education, and healthy nutrition.

Our mission is to empower families through three different pillars: Health and Wellness, Career Readiness, and Youth Empowerment. Youth empowerment begins with education, recognizing it as one of the most effective ways to improve their lives. At our Village Library, we strive to foster a dynamic learning environment for children from diverse backgrounds, including those with non-English speaking parents. We offer after-school tutoring twice a week, which has been a resounding success. But that's not all. To prepare high school students for their future beyond graduation, we have established the Youth Resource Center, providing guidance and support to students in 9th-12th grade as they navigate the college application process and explore their future career paths.

Our Village Library tutoring program welcomes students that struggle academically in math, science, or reading, and whose families qualify based on income. 100% of our students passed on to the next grade, with even 85% earning an A/B average.

Our commitment to supporting families extends beyond the Village Library. We understand that hunger can greatly impact a child's ability to focus on their studies. Our Village Pantry serves over 500 families monthly, and we also offer groceries through two Mobile Food Pantries.

Mission

Mission Central seeks to empower people in need to improve their own quality of life by providing support through emergency and long-term assistance programs. Our programs include our Village Food Pantry, two Mobile Food Pantries, after-school tutoring at our Village Library, our Career Center, our Youth Resource Center, and our Community Resource Center.

Our vision is a community where every person has the tools to thrive, so that our community as a whole can thrive.

Needs

Financial donations are our greatest need at this time, as inflation costs in all areas have caused our rent, utilities, and program costs such as food and supplies to rise dramatically.

We are always in need of shelf-stable items for our food pantry.

Equity Statement

Mission Central is committed to a diverse, inclusive, and equitable environment where all guests, volunteers, staff, leadership, and board members feel respected and valued regardless of gender identity, age, race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, disability, education, socioeconomic status, or any other characteristic.
