2024 Goal: Bring Back the Monarchs to Texas
Your generous donations will be used to support the Native Plant Society of Texas' Bring Back the Monarchs to Texas grants program. Requests for grants continually exceed the available funds for this crucial work. Let's improve our communities and fill the sky with butterflies for folks now and many generations into the future!
The BBMT program makes grants available to schools, nature centers, public libraries, and other community organizations, to create Monarch habitat gardens using native Texas plants.
- BBMT gardens provide milkweed plants to feed Monarch caterpillars
- BBMT gardens provide nectar plants to fuel adult Monarch butterflies during their 2,000+ mile migration (these nectar plants also support many birds and pollinators!)

About
The Native Plant Society of Texas was established in the fall of 1980. We are a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Texas is one of the most biologically diverse states in the United States!
Texas is the second largest state and varying geologic formations allow over 5,000 species of native plants to thrive in diverse habitats like prairies, forests, hills, deserts, bogs, mountains, and coastal plains.
The Native Plant Society of Texas strives to protect our state's native plant diversity and preserve these unique species for future generations. Our non-profit organization is run by unpaid volunteers that donate their time to create educational programs, workshops, demonstration gardens, and many other types of projects.
Why native plants?
Native plants are drought-tolerant and allow water infiltration. They naturally conserve our precious water resources.
Native plants provide habitat and food for birds, butterflies, bees, and other wildlife.
Native plants don't need special care or fertilizing.
Native plants support healthy ecosystems and maintain biological diversity.
Long Term Chapter Goals
We continue to work towards participating at more local outreach events and hosting additional meetings & presentations across Dallas County and other surrounding counties without a chapter. Contact us to volunteer and help us accomplish these goals!
