Dr. Kathryn D. "Cathy" Brownlee, Founder and Artistic Director of the New Texas Symphony Orchestra, will conclude her tenure as Conductor at the end of our current 21st season. She will continue serving as Artistic Director through 2026 and then remain active as a member of the Board of Directors as Conductor Emeritus. Now through December 31, we invite those who wish to recognize her demonstrated musical excellence, community engagement and innovation to make a gift in her honor on our North Texas Giving Day page where credit card fees have been waived for the rest of 2024.
The New Texas Symphony Orchestra - Dallas' premier community orchestra - is an all-volunteer, nonprofit performing arts group. We provide both musicians and audiences inspired opportunities to enjoy great symphonic music.
Now in our 21st "coming of age" season, the ensemble is led by founder and artistic director Dr. Kathryn D. "Cathy" Brownlee, the 2023 winner of The American Prize in Conducting community orchestra division.
In the Fall of 2019, NTSO launched "Free Concerts for ALL", our commitment to make all our concerts free and accessible to the public. This initiative, plus a dedication to diversity in programming, has better connected NTSO to an increasingly diverse audience. Concertgoers see this diversity reflected in our orchestra and in our audience.
NTSO needs your help to sustain operations and to ensure our operations team and volunteers are well supported to fulfill our mission. Together, we can continue enriching Dallas through free live symphonic music.
The mission of the NTSO is to enrich the greater Dallas communities. We offer inspiration and entertainment by connecting the patrons of North Texas with live symphonic music.
Like so many performing arts organizations, the New Texas Symphony Orchestra has felt the effects of recent inflation and must continue to increase revenue to support operations. While the NTSO is made up almost entirely of volunteers, we have an exceptional operations team that deserves fair compensation. We also must pay for essentials such as performance hall rental, music purchase and licensing fees, guest artist fees, and other necessities to continue providing exceptional musical opportunities to both players and audience members.
The New Texas Symphony Orchestra (NTSO) is committed to creating an inclusive environment for all. This includes our staff, volunteers, patrons, board, and all stakeholders. We strive to ensure that everyone is respected, valued and appreciated regardless of their race, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, abilities or disabilities, religious beliefs, or any other factor. We are dedicated to creating a safe and welcoming space where everyone can be their authentic selves.
