Phoenix House Texas provides substance use prevention and mental health education programs for youth in grades K-12 as well as adults and the broader community in Dallas, Austin, and Houston.
We provide schools and communities with cutting-edge, evidence-based, positive prevention and education services that create community awareness of the health consequences of substance use, alcohol use (including underage drinking), marijuana use, and prescription drug misuse.
We offer a range of prevention and education resources and programs designed to empower individuals, families, and communities to make informed decisions, prevent substance use, improve mental health and well-being, and foster resiliency. We offer three different levels of school-baed prevention, including Universal Prevention (YPU), Seletive Prevention (YPS), and Indicated Prevention (YPI). We also participate in Community Coalition Partnership, where we work with teens and communities to influence social norms and policies. Our evidence-based curricula include Positive Action, Botvin LifeSkills, project Towards No Drugs, and Strengthening Families.
In fiscal year 2023, our prevention programs reached more than 26,000 unique participants in 64 different zip codes across Dallas County, Travis County, and Harris County. Our Dallas County Programming specifically reached 3,334 individuals across 30 zip codes. On average, 94% of participants across all Prevention programs completed successfully. Since our organization's inception in 1995, we have reached more than 235,000 individuals through our prevention services.
Starting in September 2024, we will be significantly growing our Dallas County services. We aim to serve at least 16,695 unique individuals annually through our Dallas County programs.
