$5,000 Goal

The mission of Rae's Hope is to provide underserved girls in North Texas the opportunity to succeed academically and enrich their lives through a unique, holistic youth development program designed to empower them with critical life skills.

Through volleyball, community service, and education on life skills, including financial literacy, technology, healthy living, and social skills, we encourage girls ages 5–18 to create and maintain healthy lifestyles, improve themselves, and build positive relationships.

Our program impacts the greater Dallas community in a number of ways:

We encourage family participation to help our girls improve their relationships with family members. As girls in our program learn life skills, healthier living through nutrition and exercise, and how to have healthy relationships, they bring this knowledge home with them. In this way, Rae's Hope does not just help its participants, we help their family members.

Changing their cultural and attitudinal viewpoints is a vital component to the holistic personal success of our girls—we foster leadership, self-esteem, and perseverance, and offer incentives to present and former participants for recruiting new girls by connecting with their peers and coaches. We will continue to teach our girls goal-setting skills to reach their highest potential.

Mission

Rae's Hope's mission is to provide underserved girls in North Texas the opportunity to succeed academically and enrich their lives through a unique, holistic youth development program designed to empower them with critical life skills.

For the last 15 years, Rae's Hope has been "Reviving Communities, One Child at a Time" with a multi-faceted approach that promotes family values and combines life skills, sports, community service, and preparation for college and career.

The goals of Rae's Hope are:

- To produce self-sufficient people who are accountable for their own lives;

- To encourage youth to be physically active and comfortable with their bodies;

- To engender pride in participation in civic life and contribution to the community;

- To develop youth who are committed to healthy living, positive self-expression, and education as a life-long process, and who have a career that offers satisfaction.

Needs

- Technology & Internet Support: Many of our girls' schools provided laptops during COVID-19 due to the mandated shift to an online classroom. However, not all our girls received Wi-Fi hotspots. We hope to provide hotspots to girls who may not have received them and lack proper internet access. Additionally, some of our girls don't have reliable laptops, and we hope to provide these to the girls who really need them.

- Healthy Snacks: We try to provide healthy snacks to our girls and guides on healthy eating.

- Supplies Assistance: We are reaching out to each of our girls' families to see what supplies they may need. We hope to be able to meet any shortfall, whether this includes personal hygiene items or school supplies for the girls.

- Technology Day: We want to continue hosting Technology Days. With the assistance of volunteers from technology and electronic retailers, we set up activity stations (audio engineering, video recording & editing, drone flying, LEGO robotics, and web design) for all children in the community. We spend these Saturdays learning about technology through hands-on, interactive activities and hope to provide broader technology exposure to children who may not otherwise have this opportunity.

- Community Bike Riding Event: We are working with another non-profit on a community bike riding event. Rae's Hope girls will attend workshops to master bike riding. Once all workshops are completed and the girls are confident bike riders, we plan to host a community biking event to celebrate their success. The day will be filled with a 3-mile bike ride through South Dallas, food, and games.

- Volleyball: Volleyball instruction is the core of our sports programming. We continue to recruit girls into this program, to provide them opportunities for instruction and practice, and to help cultivate a sense of teamwork, cooperation, and fitness.
