At the Activating Reading Communities Organization (ARCO), our mission is to activate Dallas’ reading culture. We aim to foster a vibrant reading culture by increasing book access and ownership in historically underserved and marginalized communities. We strive to empower individuals and families of all ages to build and sustain home libraries, explore diverse literary choices, and cultivate a lifelong love of reading. Through community engagement, innovative programming, and strategic partnerships, ARCO is dedicated to bridging gaps in book access, enhancing educational outcomes, and enriching lives through the power of literature.
ARCO is committed to championing a robust reading culture by addressing barriers to book access, book ownership and by providing reading experiences that uplift Dallas’ reading culture.
The organization aims to create positive and engaging reading experiences while establishing communal spaces for interaction with books, authors, and the exchange of ideas within community.
Objetives:
-Create and sustain book access and ownership by removing barriers to quality books and reading resources.
-Create positive reading experiences that engage and inspire the community.
-Activate third spaces where community members can engage with books, authors, and connect with others in an exchange of ideas.
Activating Reading Communities Organization (ARCO) is a newly established non-profit dedicated to promoting literacy and fostering a love of reading within communities. As a start-up organization, ARCO's primary needs focus on operational support and the growth of its programs to effectively fulfill its mission.
