As a Texan, it's important to know that we have work to do when it comes to addressing sex trafficking. By partnering with Refuge for Women, you can be a part of the solution and help restore those who have been victimized. Together, we can make a difference and create stronger, safer communities for everyone.

REFUGE FOR WOMEN NORTH TEXAS provides a place of escape, safety, hope, healing, and restoration for women who have escaped sex trafficking or sexual exploitation.  Our non-profit, faith-based organization, offers a multi-year specialized continuum of care at no charge to the residents.  Residents progress through nationally recognized, evidence-based, trauma-informed programming, with around-the-clock staffing. The trained, compassionate staff support residents as they work to reclaim their identities and reach their goals: overcoming addictions, healing from trauma, developing life skills, establishing support networks, living with healthy rhythms of life, and attaining financial independence. Refuge for Women strives to help each woman complete the program with a vision for her future, equipped to succeed and sustain a life marked with dignity and hope.

Our Needs

This year, your donation will help Refuge for Women as we double the number of beds for survivors through our new Emergency House, providing a safe space for women to begin their journey toward freedom.

This will be our first Emergency House for female survivors of sex trafficking. This home will provide 8-10 new beds where currently only 6 crisis beds exist throughout the 20-county North Texas region. Your support provides a comfortable home-like environment for our residents with 24-hour staffing and trauma-informed care. The program is given to our residents at no cost to them, as our organization is completely funded through donations. Your support on North Texas Giving Day will help us with the support needed to run this home.

There is a desperate need for an Emergency House here in North Texas. There are simply not enough beds to support the number of women who are in crisis and need an immediate place to escape and stabilize in our North Texas area.

The Emergency House will provide:

  1. Immediate shelter
  2. 24/7 onsite staff support
  3. Basic needs assistance
  4. Medical care
  5. Psychosocial and therapeutic support
  6. Substance abuse treatment
  7. Targeted casework

This service is provided for 30-90 days with the goal of helping the woman stabilize so she can then progress into the long-term program if she chooses. The Emergency House will provide emergency, non-conditional, temporary shelter to women and offers them access to multi-sector services.

Construction on the Emergency House is well underway and is scheduled to open in January of 2025! Your support helps us as we open this new home.

This year we have an exciting opportunity for you to leave your legacy at the new Emergency House! For every $250 donated, you will have the opportunity to engrave a brick that we will use on the Emergency House property. If you donate additionally in increments of $250, additional bricks can be engraved in honor of a loved one, with a verse or word of encouragement.

Another exciting step for Refuge for Women North Texas is the relaunch of our Survivor Made Social Enterprise. Your support this North Texas Giving Day helps us as we open this opportunity back up to the women we serve. The tentative date for reopening is October 2024.

Survivor Made is preventing human trafficking and exploitation by providing dignified jobs in a positive work environment. By supporting this social enterprise, you are equipping women survivors with job training, earned income, resume-ready work experience, and life and business skills that prepare them to pursue their dreams. 100% of every purchase goes back into the program.
