Search One Rescue Team, a 501 (c)3 organization, is an over 40 year old Search and Rescue team, that searches for and helps locate lost or missing persons with an all volunteer human team assisted by their personally owned, and highly trained K9's (Canines-Dogs). We are based in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area and serves all agencies in this North Texas Region. Search One Rescue Team uses specially trained K9 teams to assist official governmental agencies (only) such as Fire Departments, Sheriff's Offices and Police Departments by searching for and locating lost or missing persons. These persons include, but are not limited to, victims of child abduction, Alzheimer's patients, suicidal persons, walk-a-ways, victims of disaster and more. When search and rescue operations are initiated, the search itself is an emergency and time is of the essence. In 2023 the Search One Rescue Team were requested to assist governmental agencies in the North Texas region on over 104 mission requests. This was the third year in a row with triple digit call rates averaging nearly 10 calls per month in a region with a population of over 7 million people.
The team has been successful in obtaining much of the equipment needed to accomplish its mission but struggles to obtain annual operating funds. Insurance for our mobile command center and off road vehicle is very expensive. In addition, maintenance and repairs for the command center and the need for replenishment of routine supplies is also very costly each year. In addition, we have fees associated with our paging system, our mission management software, our WiFi and router services, and dozens of other ancillary expenses that we must meet every year. Having the funds needed to cover these operating expenses contributes directly to the increased capacity and continued success of the Search One Rescue Team as more governmental agencies, and the people of
