At Trauma Support Services, we understand the importance of mental health and support for those who have survived a traumatic experience. Through our North Texas Giving Day theme, Recipes for Resilience, we celebrate the comforting connection between food and mental health—a connection that provides a warm hug during life’s stormy moments. Every dollar makes a profound impact.

Your support can create the foundation for a meaningful connection between a trauma survivor in our community and a dedicated therapist, ensuring continued mental health support. Your contribution can ignite new opportunities for trauma training, in addition to our current area of focus, female survivors. We recognize that trauma can affect anyone in our community, and your generosity helps us expand our programs to reach all those in need.

Why Donate to Trauma Support Services?

  • Support Mental Health Programs:  Donations help fund programs like our mental health therapy and trauma training programs that offer crucial mental health resources, such as counseling, therapy, case management, support groups, training and consultation. These resources are vital for individuals coping with mental health challenges and trauma.
  • Build a Community of Resilience: Join us in building a community where everyone can find comfort and strength. By supporting mental health initiatives, you contribute to reducing the stigma associated with mental health issues. This encourages more people to seek help and talk openly about their struggles. Strong mental health programs can improve the overall well-being of communities by providing support and education, leading to healthier, more connected communities.
  • Enhanced Understanding and Sensitivity: Trauma-informed training educates community members, professionals, and organizations about the effects of trauma and how to respond sensitively. This understanding helps reduce re-traumatization risk and promotes a more supportive environment.
  • Strengthened Community Resilience: Training fosters resilience by equipping individuals and organizations with the tools to cope with and recover from traumatic events. This resilience is crucial for communities to thrive despite challenges.
  • Increased Access to Resources: Trauma-informed training often includes information on available resources and how to access them. This can lead to more successful linkages to necessary services, such as counseling, healthcare, and social support.
  • Empowerment and Collaboration: These trainings encourage a shift from a “doing to” or “doing for” approach to a “doing with” approach. This means involving community members in decision-making processes and ensuring their voices are heard, leading to more effective and inclusive solutions.

Giving Activity

Mission

The mission of Trauma Support Services (TSSNT) is to provide personalized, compassionate mental healthcare for those affected by trauma.

The core of the mission of Trauma Support Services is to provide free therapy sessions to individuals who have experienced trauma due to a crime and free training to criminal justice professionals, law enforcement, therapists, social workers, and community workers to help them better support women and families who have experienced violence.

Needs

Trauma Support Services recognizes the growing demand for trauma therapy and trauma-informed professionals in our community.

Direct Services (Trauma Therapy): Your support allows us to offer more therapy sessions to individuals who might not otherwise afford them. This means more people can receive the help they need to heal from trauma. With additional funding, we can create and implement new programs tailored to specific needs within our community, such as support groups for different types of trauma or workshops on coping strategies.

Trauma Care Institute (Trauma Training): Your support allows us to offer more training sessions to professionals and community members, ensuring that more people are equipped with the knowledge and skills to handle trauma effectively. Donations help us create specialized training programs tailored to specific needs, such as trauma-informed care for children, first responders, or survivors of domestic violence.

Equity Statement

Trauma Support Services recognizes its responsibility to provide fair and equal treatment for all persons without regard to gender, color, age, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, political beliefs, marital status, mental or physical ability, economic class, or any other discriminatory basis.
