For 50 years, Texas Conservation Alliance (TCA) has successfully advocated for wildlife and wild places in Texas. TCA has engaged with local communities to protect the rivers and forests of East Texas and the prairies of West Texas. Thanks to TCA, more than 200,000 Texas acres are protected in parks and wildlife refuges. We've stopped unnecessary reservoirs that drown Texas rivers, fought clear-cutting in national forests, and recruited thousands of people to conserve Texas' beautiful outdoor world.
TCA educates Texans and builds alliances to enhance and sustain wildlife habitat and protect our land, air, and water for future generations. Our programs include:
1. Advocacy for Threats to Ecoregions & Texas Communities
TCA helps guide and provide a blueprint for advocacy at the community level by engaging in public outreach and connecting issues with solutions. Our advocacy efforts have brought attention to, defended, and successfully stopped threats to ecoregions and reduced impacts to communities and businesses.
2. Texas Conservation Action Team (TXCAT)
Working with youth and adults, the TXCAT program focuses on habitat restoration, waterways cleanup, Lights Out DFW surveys, and community engagement. This program reaches out to various Texas communities, particularly underserved and historically marginalized, to provide conservation and preservation experiences and to build the next generation of Texas conservation-minded communities.
3. Native Plant PropagationProgram
Our Native Plant Propagation Center, in partnership with the Dallas, focuses on restoration in North Texas, education programs. We aim to enhance wildlife habitats while promoting water conservation at home and local businesses.
4. Marketing Production & Community Outreach
Highlight the importance of conservation of water, energy, and wildlife habitat through compelling messaging, impactful video and photographic content, and a call to action.
5. Careers in Conservation Internship Program
TCA helps train the future conservation leaders of Texas. Through the internship program, interns work alongside TCA staff and experience the frontlines of saving wildlife and their habitats in the state. This program develops technical acumen, exercises transferable skills, and cultivates conservation leadership.
