Our vision at the Telos Project is to provide therapeutic services to communities who lack access to quality, professional, competent mental health care. Stigma and poverty often prevent access to these services. To bridge the gap, we accept nearly all insurance, Medicaid, Medicare and Tricare. Our highly qualified staff are leaders in mental health services and are dedicated to providing evidenced-based therapeutic services and comprehensive psychological assessments for children, families, and adults. This results in our community members feeling supported, empowered, and capable of improving their quality of life.
Our Needs
The Telos Project is looking to expand its program development and operations budget to create a bigger impact on the community by connecting more individuals to services. Any funding received will go towards the following three areas:
Further support for the Equal Access Assessment Fund. We established this fund to provided financial aid to those who are unable to afford crucial assessment and diagnostic services. We hope to raise $10,000 to help cover the prohibitive cost of psychological assessments for 18-20 individuals. Comprehensive assessments can help identify and diagnose learning disorders, autism spectrum disorder, processing disorders, and more. With this testing, many families are able to access critical services such as targeted therapies, accommodations at school, and family supports. The outcome of quality assessment and comprehensive diagnosis means we can improve an individual's chances of success, improve confidence, and support healing.
Building and Operational costs. In the last year we relocated to a new building which will allow us to serve a larger number of families and individuals. This new space has created opportunity for growth but with that comes additional building and operations expenses. Raising $5,000 will allow us to cover the cost of furnishing group rooms, creating sensory-inclusive and interactive environments in our waiting rooms, halls, and offices, and support our ability to hire additional staff to help manage the higher call volume and referral rates as our community continues to grow.
Creating a Family Education Library. Many of our patients and their families are learning about and addressing various diagnoses and behavioral or emotional challenges. For this reason, we have a comprehensive list of books that provide accurate and helpful information for each challenge they may be facing. However, as many of our patients and their families are from underserved populations and are of low socioeconomic status, purchasing these books or finding time to seek them out can be another daunting task on a to do list, or simply not in the budget. By raising $3,000 we can start a Family Education Library in our waiting room so that our patients and their families can access these resources while they are here. Understanding a diagnosis and learning about strategies, supports, and other people's experiences can be validating. Knowledge is power and we believe everyone should have access to the same information.
