For 30 years, TREC Community Investors has helped breathe new life into North Texas’ most underserved neighborhoods block by block. By uniting pro-bono industry expertise, critical financial capital, and the vision of respected community organizations and leaders, our transformative partnerships address systemic issues to create long-term positive and equitable impact.

Throughout our history, we have worked with more than 750 organizations, funded grants for more than 250 nonprofits, and invested nearly $19 million into neighborhood revitalization initiatives, life-changing educational programs and entrepreneurial opportunities, and critical community resources not previously available in the neighborhoods we serve. Our initiatives help increase essential services, create jobs, expand affordable housing, and rejuvenate our city’s disinvested communities while honoring their rich histories and cultures.

About the Dallas Catalyst Project (DCP)

In 2018, we introduced a neighborhood revitalization initiative that would focus our philanthropic efforts on a single Dallas neighborhood. Following months of vetting proposals from across the DFW Metroplex, TREC members selected the Forest District neighborhood as the inaugural recipient of the Dallas Catalyst Project (DCP). What began as a three-year, $1 million investment grew to five years, 22 completed impactful commercial real estate projects, nearly 121,000 square feet of redeveloped space, more than 6,000 volunteer hours, and more than $144 million in additional outside investment into the community. We are now integrating the strategies and lessons we learned from working with the Forest District to a new neighborhood with new opportunities for growth: Mill City. In partnership with Mill City Community Association, Builders of Hope Community Development Corporation, and Urban Specialists, we are addressing neighborhood issues of food insecurity, public safety, affordable housing, outdated infrastructure, and a lack of safe gathering spaces and youth mentoring opportunities.
