TRM’s re-entry mentoring program began in 2001 as a church ministry working at Dawson State Jail with those
serious about personal growth and change. In 2002, the group also began providing mentorship services at the
Mineral Wells Pre-Release Facility. The mentors built relationships with their mentees pre-release and
supported them post-release by connecting them with resources, including housing, jobs, and food.
Seeing the significant barriers their mentees faced, including the inadequate level of accessible and safe
housing, the mentors launched TRM as a formal nonprofit in 2004. In partnership with Cornerstone Baptist
Church of Dallas, TRM also began providing supportive housing and a continuum of services from pre-release
through post-release to ensure clients have the greatest opportunity to succeed in a city not designed to support
their success. In 2012, TRM purchased and renovated a 9,600-square-foot apartment complex near South Ervay
and Al Lipscomb in South Dallas now known as Trinity House. It houses 38 men in four supportive community
living units; TRM houses another 15 clients in nearby housing that is owned, leased or donated. In 2022, TRM
launched The Well to serve women with pre-release mentoring and post-release services, including housing,
food and family reunification support.
Providing hope and restoration of mind, body and spirit in obedience to God the Father through Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit to men and women who are incarcerated.
Big Goals $215,000
Your generosity can help us take major leaps forward in how we serve men and women re-entering society. These high-impact projects will strengthen our programs, expand our reach, and improve the living conditions of those we serve:
1. Two New 15-Passenger Vans – $70,000
For over 21 years, the TRM team has traveled more than 45,000 miles annually to correctional facilities across Texas to provide life-changing mentoring. Our vans are at the end of their life cycle and replacing them will ensure we can continue safely reaching men and women before release.
2. Funding for New Social Enterprise – Landscaping Business– $15,000
Through community partnerships, TRM offers workforce development training and hands-on job skills. We’ve launched a landscaping business to provide real work experience and income. Funding will allow us to expand these opportunities so clients can earn a livable wage and gain long-term stability.
3. Renovations for Philemon House – $50,000
Planned upgrades include full interior and exterior renovations, bathroom and kitchen updates, foundation repairs, new windows, upgraded flooring, and electrical system improvements.
4. Renovations for Trinity House – $80,000
As one of our main housing facilities, Trinity House will benefit from full interior and exterior renovations, updated kitchens and bathrooms, and new windows and flooring—creating a safer, more welcoming home for residents.
