Fort Worth VFW Post 8235 has been awarded the prestigious designation of an All-American/All-State Post for multiple years in a row! The All-American and All-State designation is reserved only for those VFW Posts who have completed a multitude of VFW mission projects. These projects include, community service activities, veteran services, youth programs, support of military personnel/ families, Gold Star families support, support of homeless Veterans and honoring the past sacrifices of our country's Veterans in time of war. All of this has been accomplished while we are in the process of building our new Post facility.
Notable Accomplishments of Fort Worth VFW Post 8235:
- Nominated for D Magazine’s Non-Profit of the Year in two separate categories for 2022 and 2023.
- We actively participate in the VFW's Youth and Education Scholarship Programs which includes the "Patriot Pen" for grades 6-8, "Voice of Democracy" grades 9-12, and the "National Citizenship Education Teacher program " for all grades.
- In FY 2023 (July-June) the members and volunteers of Fort Worth Post 8235 donated over $88,000 worth of volunteer mileage, cash donations and volunteer hours to worthy community causes.
- We are the First Military Veteran Organization in the world to become a *Blue Zones® participating organization.
- We are the first Veterans organization in the area to include a Dog-Friendly environment in the Post “green area” planning.
- Fort Worth VFW Post is a member of the Tarrant County Veterans Council, and we sponsor and participate in the Tarrant County Veteran’s Day Parade.
- We sponsor and support the Tarrant County Young Marines, American Heritage Girls, and Trail Life USA youth organizations.
- We are a supporter of Pathfinders of Tarrant County. They are a Tarrant County organization that provides mentoring for veterans and non-veterans alike, and financial coaching for 70 area veterans each year.
