Abandoned Pet Project (APP) is a non-profit organization that was founded to create partnerships between animal rescue groups and veterinarians in order to work together to save lives. Its goal is to fund medical care for homeless animals whom have been pulled from shelter euthanasia lists into responsible rescue partner's or our rescue program (APPR). The medical treatments of these animals are funded by APP through generous contributions made by people from all over the world. APP has three volunteer board members and it supports the treatment of homeless animals by our vet partners. Our rescue program team is also completely volunteer run and foster based. After the necessary treatment, the animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and are placed up for adoption through our program or one of our partners.
APP currently needs funds to continue this lifesaving work of medical care support for other rescues, community outreach clinics, transport of animals to other areas, and our rescue program. Between 2016 and 8/3/23 we have invested roughly $2,781,000 in the care and medical needs of animals such as dogs, cats, horses, goats, pigs, chickens, lizards, and rabbits in need both in our rescue program, partner rescues, and shelter partners. We would love to be able to assist even more with your help on North Texas Giving Day!
Abandoned Pet Project Mission: Abandoned Pet Project is dedicated to providing the funding for abandoned, abused, and homeless pets so they may receive the medical care they need. We are a non profit organization that supports a network of fosters, veterinarians, community outreach projects, and spay/neuter initiatives. Our veterinary partners work diligently to rehabilitate shelter animals and offer their communities medical assistance through low cost vaccine clinics, microchipping, and spay & neuter assistance for area animals.
Abandoned Pet Project Rescue Mission: Abandoned Pet Project Rescue (APPR) is dedicated to creating positive outcomes for the overlooked, abandoned, and often injured animals whose medical treatments are funded by Abandoned Pet Project. Through adoptions and transport partnerships with like-minded rescues across the nation, Abandoned Pet Project Rescue provides the opportunity for our pets to live happy and healthy lives in loving, forever homes.

At Abandoned Pet Project (APP), we believe that all animals deserve a chance to find a loving home, regardless of species, breed, age, or background. We extend this same principle to our human community, recognizing the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) in everything we do. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all volunteers, adopters, and the animals entrusted to our care.
Our Commitment to Diversity
Volunteers: We actively recruit a diverse volunteer team that reflects the communities we serve. We value individuals from all backgrounds, races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, abilities, and ages.
Animal Intake and Care: We don't discriminate based on breed, age, or medical needs when taking in animals. We believe every animal deserves a chance to heal, thrive, and find a loving home.
Adoption Process: We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive adoption process that caters to a wide range of potential adopters. We offer resources and support, provide adoption applications in accessible formats, and work to break down barriers to adoption for underserved communities.
Ensuring Equity for All
Equitable Access to Resources: We are committed to providing equitable access to our resources, services, and programs. We ensure our adoption fees and services are accessible to a wide range of people, removing financial barriers to welcoming a furry friend into their lives.
Training and Education: We provide ongoing training for volunteers on unconscious bias, cultural competency, and inclusive animal care practices. We also offer resources for the community on responsible pet ownership and the benefits of adopting from a shelter.
Advocacy and Outreach: We advocate for policies that promote animal welfare for all animals, regardless of their background. We partner with other animal welfare organizations and community groups to ensure equitable access to pet resources and services.
