Abigail's Arms Cooke County Family Crisis Center is an umbrella agency providing safety and support to victims of crime in Cooke County, TX.
2024 Campaign Focus
Our current playroom at the shelter provides a place for children to free play; this is neither structured, inviting or calming.
Our playroom is designed to provide a safe and engaging atmosphere for children. This open floor plan encourages excessive running. Running encourages a loud and chaotic environment. It is also a safety concern leading to potential accidents and injuries. With free open space, the noise level is often too loud and chaotic which is overwhelming for children. Many of our toys are broken, have missing pieces, or inappropriate for children’s age group, leading to boredom and disinterest.
The idea is to provide a playroom that is inviting and calm. Parents are encouraged to come in the playroom to interact or supervise their children. Providing a space that children and parents alike can enjoy, encourages family bonding during the difficult times they are facing.
*Organized and Clutter Free: Clear separation of activity zones helps children focus and engage more deeply in play.
*Calm and Soothing: Providing soft inviting colors and minimal noise contribute to a serene environment.
*Engaging and Stimulating: A variety of toys and activities that are age appropriate and in good condition keep children interested and occupied.

Victim Outreach & Community Education (VOCE)
We seek to build up youth through group engagement, individual support and leadership programs in the many school districts in the county. We aim to offer a variety of curriculums that cover healthy and unhealthy relationships, bullying, body safety, boundaries, etc. We encourage youth to be agents of change within their own relationships, which in return changes their schools and communities.
