Every year, 100's of "hunting hounds" are discarded in the woods, left by their owners to fend for themselves. These hounds are picked up by animal control and American Black & Tan Coonhound Rescue does everything we can to place these wonderful hounds in loving foster homes. They are given the veterinary care they need, daily meals and lots of belly rubs! Once they are healthy and ready to be adopted, these loving pets are put on our website at www.coonhoundrescue.com
Our Needs
Donations are greatly appreciated to cover expenses for vet care for our fosters that are heartworm positive, needing major medical issues (surgery), spays/neutering, vaccinations and heartworm preventative medications.
Recently, we rescued a 3 month old Black & Tan Coonhound pup with a broken femur on his back leg & hairline fracture to his front leg when he was hit by a car. Rescue was contacted and we immediately took him to our vet specialist for surgery. Surgery was well over $3,500. Mammoth is an awesome hound that is now completely healed & enjoying playing with his new Aussie brother in his forever home (vet tech at the hospital fell in love with him & adopted him).
Additionally, American Black & Tan Coonhound Rescue took in a beautiful female Bluetick that was horribly abused and her one leg was mangled beyond saving. Molly went through amputation surgery she is adjusting wonderfully and loving her new foster family. Medical costs for this beautiful hound was well over $2,300.
