Our mission is to build strong families and healthy, safe neighborhoods through discipleship, community pride, and the development of quality affordable housing.
Builders of Hope had its beginnings as a housing initiative of Voice of Hope Ministries in West Dallas. In 1998, it became its own nonprofit organization (renamed Builders of Hope in 2002) committed exclusively to fighting poverty in Dallas through the development of affordable housing, providing much needed services for low-income home buyers, workforce development, and fostering community pride in the neighborhoods we work.
BOH has since become one of Dallas' biggest developers of affordable housing in a city that is in desperate need of it, and work throughout West Dallas, Oak Cliff, Pleasant Grove and more. As a nationally recognized community development organization, we're striving to empower residents of the communities we serve in strategic ways.
We strive to make West Dallas, Pleasant Grove, and Oak Cliff an affordable, attractive option for potential home buyers, as well as improve the living condition and value of existing homes. To accomplish this, our projects in this area include:
building new homes at affordable prices on vacant lots
demolishing and rehabbing vacant substandard houses
helping senior citizens to repair their homes
Partnering with the City of Dallas, Dallas County and lending partners, Builders of Hope is able to build and sell homes between $95,000 - $150,000.
The 3 and 4 bedroom / 2 bath homes are energy efficient with energy star appliances having modern construction and insulation practices. Homes built by Builders of Hope are not only pocketbook but environmentally friendly.
