The organization is ranked among the top one percent of agencies in the nation as both a Texas Rising Star affiliate of Childcare Group and an affiliate of Educational First Steps.

Over the past 29 years, Braswell CDC has impacted the lives of thousands of children and families, serving 100 unduplicated children annually. The organization relies on the generosity of its community to continue offering excellent, low-cost childcare in South Dallas. Your support on North Texas Giving Day will ensure children receive the excellent education and start to life they deserve.

Giving Activity

Mission

The mission of Braswell CDC is to increase the value of early childhood education by providing an environment that enhances each child's interest to learn and their ability to become an independent thinker through developmentally appropriate activities.

The poverty and violence that is often associated with living in under-resourced communities like South Dallas can have a lasting traumatic impact on a child. According to the report “Preventing Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs): Leveraging the Best Available Evidence,” conditions such as witnessing or being victimized by crime and experiencing food insecurity and poverty are examples of ACEs that can cause toxic stress for a child. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a strong, positive start in a child’s life, such as that provided through Braswell CDC, can lessen the immediate and long-term impact of these conditions. Through Braswell CDC, children living in South Dallas can receive the start they need to achieve their full potential.
