The present and future impact of Camp Jubilee, beyond our mission statement, includes the utilization of former campers returning as volunteer counselors, providing guidance and examples of encouragement with their life experiences. Other ways the program makes an impact is allowing older campers (ages 13 and 14) to participate in a leadership program allowing for growth potential opportunities and lastly the use of continuous health education about the disease and health care systems to recognize and ultimately decrease their encounters with health and racial disparities within the system.
Current needs include volunteer counselors, especially male, financial and in-kind donations, grant writers, corporate partnerships.
Camp Jubilee exist to uplift children with sickle cell disease through education, achievement of new and exciting skills, and interaction with others who have the disease, ultimately, inspiring children to recognize that having sickle cell disease does not preclude them from experiencing all that life has to offer.
Capital (funds), backpacks, water bottles, hats, arts & crafts supplies, t-shirts with camp logo, travel size toiletries, sanitizer gel/spray/wipes, bug spray, sunscreen, orientation lunch for volunteer counselors.
