Heart of a lion: When Brantley was placed on the heart transplant list, he found comfort in a trusty stuffed sidekick, Roarey.

Diagnosed with a congenital heart defect before he was born, Brantley, who has a gusto for life and can make a friend anywhere he goes, grew up knowing that his heart was special. And when he developed a condition that made it hard to breathe, Brantley and his family were referred to Suren Reddy, M.D., a pediatric cardiologist at Children's Health who was on the cusp of a significant breakthrough. But the treatment was only a temporary remedy for Brantley's special heart. At 7 years old, Brantley was placed on the heart transplant list. And while he couldn't wait to run as fast as his friends again, he knew he'd miss his special heart and its unique beat. Enter Roarey: a stuffed lion that safekeeps a recording inside his furry chest of Brantley’s original heartbeat. Now 9 years old, Brantley has boundless energy with a new heart and a well-loved lion by his side.

Every gift will be doubled*, up to $90,000, thanks to a generous friend of Children's Health!

Why Children's Health

Better care for children who need it. Groundbreaking research. More community resources for kids’ mental health. Through the ups and downs of the past few years, we have remained focused on these important goals, and with the help of people like you, we reached new heights and overcame obstacles.

And that’s because for more than a century, Children’s Health has been steadfastly devoted to one mission: making life better for children.

As one of the largest and most well-respected pediatric health care providers in the country and the leading nonprofit pediatric health care system in North Texas, Children’s Health cares for children through more than 968,453 patient visits annually. The Children’s Health system includes Children’s Medical Center Dallas, Children’s Medical Center Plano, the Children’s Health Care Network, specialty centers, rehabilitation facilities and physician services.

When you choose Children's Health, your time and money go to giving kids the best experience, the best care and ultimately the best fighting chance to get back to being a kid again.
