Our Needs
Dallas Jazz Piano Society would like to expand our Keys for Kids Scholarship Program that provides piano instruction and instruments to motivated students with documented financial need. Also, we are seeking funding for a collaboration with Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra to provide jazz clinics under the direction of Dan Haerle, a member of LeJENds and the International Association of Jazz Education Hall of Fame.
Mission
Dallas Jazz Piano Society is dedicated to promoting,preserving and perpetuating piano jazz music through performances and education opportunities for the community at large.
We have regular (typically monthly) performances in which we bring in nationally recognized performers, who not only perform but also discuss their approach to music and composition . DJPS originated and sponsors the Keys for Kids Scholars program.
Equity Statement
The Dallas Jazz Piano Society is dedicated to promoting, preserving and perpetuating piano jazz music through performances and educational opportunities for the community at large and greatly welcome all backgrounds and creeds. Opportunities are continually sought to highlight performers from diverse ethnic backgrounds. One concert per season is dedicated to women performers and composers. We initiated a partnership with a DISD school to provide piano lessons to an underserved zip code. We actively recruit minorities and women for our board.
