Denton Christian Preschool serves at-risk three and four-year-old children in the Denton community, and we're proud to say we've been doing this since 1970! Denton Christian Preschool provides opportunities for each child to attain their full potential by increasing access to early education so that each child is at or above grade level when they begin kindergarten. DCP's program is made up of five components: developmentally appropriate learning activities in a classroom setting, transportation to and from school, daily nutritious meals and snacks, medical, dental, speech, and other diagnostic screenings and referrals and monthly parental events. To ensure we provide our children with the best quality education, DCP completed the process of obtaining national accreditation through NAC, The National Accreditation Commission for Early Childhood Education.
Denton Christian Preschool is a United Way agency founded by individuals from 17 churches in Denton who believed the first few years of a child's life are the most crucial years for development. Dedicated professionals and volunteers teach, feed, love and nurture about 60 children each school year. Our goal is to break the cycle of poverty and the achievement gap that affects low-income children in Denton and improve a child's overall life.
Because of reduced funding, we've been unable to provide our services for free and currently must charge a tuition rate to attend DCP limiting the number of children we are able to serve in our community. We've seen our enrollment numbers decrease over the years but with your help and kindness, we can work together so that no child is at a disadvantage when they begin kindergarten.
Our Needs
Our focus this year is to have more bus riders as they're needed in the mornings from 7:50 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and afternoon from 2:50 p.m. - 4 p.m. This will allow our staff to stay back and hold weekly meetings and our teachers can prepare for the next class day. Additionally, we are in need of kitchen aides 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. to help prepare and distribute breakfast and lunch to our preschoolers. For more information, visit the Volunteer tab on our North Texas Giving Day page.
DCP also takes in-kind donations of essential day-to-day items that allow us to operate and meet the daily needs of our children (office and classroom supplies). View our Amazon wishlist at https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/34V1SZER5GYAU?pldnSite=1
