The goal of our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program is to humanely reduce the population of free roaming cats in Arlington.
TNR RESULTS IN ARLINGTON
- 2,000+ Community Cats rescued from Arlington Animal Services (AAS) by FAAS
- 10,000+ Community Cats TNR'd in Arlington
- 62% increase in the Cat Live Release Rate at AAS
- 48% decrease in Cat Intake at AAS
HEARTWORM POSITIVE DOGS IN ARLINGTON
The goal of our Heartworm Treatment program is to provide adopters and/or rescue partners with affordable veterinary care for the treatment of heartworm positive dogs, thereby reducing the length of stay and create positive outcomes for dogs at Arlington Animal Services.
Mission
The Friends of Arlington Animal Services (FAAS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, independent of the Arlington shelter. Our mission is to help increase the Live Release Rate at Arlington Animal Services and see to the well being of homeless animals in our city. FAAS is committed to the homeless pets in Arlington, and keeping them safe through promoting adoptions, marketing, encouraging volunteerism, supporting rescues, decreasing birth rates, and engaging the community.
Needs
Our organization is in need of the following:
- Newspaper, gift cards (Home Depot, Lowes, Petsmart, Petco, Pet Supplies Plus, etc), donated items for online auctions, dog/cat food (wet & dry), litter, pee pads, general cleaning supplies (laundry soap, trash bags, gloves, bleach, etc.), etc.
- Volunteers for our TNR Program (ie - trappers, admin help, transport, etc).
- Volunteers for our Fundraising Committee
- Volunteers for Community Outreach
- Volunteers for Educational Material (eg - Spay/Neuter information, Responsible Pet Ownership, Microchipping, etc)
