Nearly 7,000 animals call the Fort Worth Zoo home, but our reach extends far beyond the Zoo’s 64 acres. Our conservation field work impacts species around the world, and with your gift on North Texas Giving Day, we can do even more. On this special day, you can make a difference in the lives of animals and the crucial conservation work the Fort Worth Zoo does both locally and around the world.
The mission of the Fort Worth Zoo is to strengthen the bond between humans and the environment by promoting responsible stewardship of wildlife and ensuring diverse, high-quality educational and entertaining family experiences through effective and efficient management of resources. The foundation of this mission statement is based on three cornerstone principles:
Education: A commitment to provide factual information to nurture an appreciation of and respect for wildlife and the environment.
Conservation: A commitment to affect positive change through the facilitation of conservation and sound scientific research.
Entertainment: A commitment to excellence and to always exceed our guest's expectations.
Funds raised on North Texas Giving Day will help provide state-of-the-art equipment for our incredibly important field work. This new technology will allow our conservation biologists to use drones to track tags on previously released animals like Andean flamingos and Texas horned lizards. Tracking is a critical component to re-establishing species’ numbers in the wild, and this technology will allow our team to cover much more ground across various terrains.
