About Forward Training Center

Our Program

Our Program seeks to foster job-readiness in adults and youth.  It includes a number of facets: Jobs for Life, Powered for Life, Computer Training, English as a Second Language, High School Equivalency, CISCO Certified Network Associate and Computer-aided Drafting and Design (CADD).  All classes are at no cost to the students or the public.  97 percent of our instructors and mentors are volunteers. Forward Training Center’s successes have been featured in the Hood County News.

Youth Programs

Our Youth (15 to 18yrs) Classes serve both Granbury Independent School District Stars Accelerated Academy and Premier High School. These high school age students are excited about new opportunities and are ready to step into entry level jobs, which is an asset to local businesses. The youth are also extremely open to learning trades and becoming entrepreneurs.  Our Youth Programs include:

  • Powered for Life
  • CADD
  • CISCO Network Academy

Adult Classes

Our Adult Classes are for ages 18 and up and begin with a career assessment to ascertain an individual’s natural skill sets and association with his or her talents.  Our goal is to develop a road map for each student to assist them in determining and obtaining their ideal job.  We foster job-readiness skills to enable our students to enter or advance in the workforce.  Volunteer instructors and mentors support students every step of the way by listening and creating an environment of trust that instills a sense of value and confidence for future employment.  Our Adult Programs include:

  • Jobs for Life - our Hallmark course
  • Beginner Typing Skills
  • Computer Basics
  • E-Mail 101/Internet
  • Windows 10/Introduction to Microsoft Office
  • Microsoft EXCEL
  • Microsoft WORD
  • QuickBooks Basic
  • English as a Second Language

  • CISCO Network Academy

All classes are at no cost to the students or the public.  97 percent of our instructors and mentors are volunteers.  Forward Training Center’s successes have been featured in the Hood County News.

Our Collaboration

Hood County is blessed to have many agencies and organizations that minister to the same people we do.  We work together with many of these agencies and organizations to provide our students with the help they need without duplicating the services offered by others.

Our Needs

With the growth of our programs, our need for materials and technical support have grown tremendously. We are on the right path at the right time to meet the ongoing needs of businesses and trades by supplying them with trained and dedicated workers to fill vacant positions.

In closing, Forward Training Center programming needs donations to support current operations and enable growth. Additionally, volunteers are needed to provide instruction and mentoring in all classes and to provide support in administration and fundraising.

OUR SPECIFIC NEEDS

    • Textbooks and Supplies: Curriculum Workbook for leaders and students; supplies for classroom instruction.
    • Transportation Funds – Transit System costs for students to attend classes
    • Childcare - Childcare for Single Parents while attending classes
    • Computer and peripheral equipment
    • All direct program services.
