💙 ABOUT US
Friends of Dallas Animal Services is the official non-profit fundraising partner for Dallas Animal Services (DAS). As one of the largest city-run shelters in the country, DAS turns no pet away and cares for tens of thousands of pets every year. And the DAS team is always hard at work helping shelter pets find their perfect match.
If you’ve ever adopted a pet, you might know the feeling. After a few days (or months) of having your new furry family member, you start to think: How did I get so lucky? How did I find the perfect match for me?
We can’t explain the magic of adoption, but we support it! This NTX Giving Day, Friends of DAS is celebrating our fifth birthday. Since 2019, people like you have helped us fulfill 100% of requests for financial assistance from DAS and provide over $1M in supplemental support to benefit the homeless pets at DAS. We hope you’ll join the movement this year in making DAS the place where pets find their perfect match!
By supporting Friends of DAS, you’ll help provide things like enrichment items, foster care support, medical equipment, and on-site shelter needs at DAS. Join the thousands of donors (and animal lovers) who advocate for shelter pets in Dallas!
💙 WHAT OUR DONORS SAY ABOUT FRIENDS OF DAS
“I’m happy to be a monthly donor to Friends of DAS because of the group’s commitment to helping DAS with the 90%+ live release rate goal,” says Ray, current donor.
“I donate monthly because when DAS has more resources, they can save more lives,” says Karen, another recurring donor.
💙 WHAT THE DAS LEADERSHIP TEAM SAYS ABOUT FRIENDS OF DAS
“At Dallas Animal Services, we help pets find their perfect match — an adopter who will love them unconditionally and provide excellent care. But matchmaking is challenging when our shelter is well over capacity. We welcome every pet, but we also want to see every pet go to a happy home.
That’s why we’re so grateful to Friends of DAS and donors like you for providing financial help, foster care support, and awareness for the neediest shelter pets in Dallas. We hope you’ll support Friends of DAS this North Texas Giving Day. And when you’re ready to foster or adopt, come visit us at DAS!”
💙 PERFECT MATCH FUND
Extra big thanks to our incredible match fund donors: the Burkhardt family, the Rombauer family, John & Patricia Monger, Marsha Pendleton Gray, Barking Hound Village, G3 Investigations, Best Buy Windows and Siding, and Keener Financial Planning.
Friends of Dallas Animal Services raises funds to directly benefit Dallas Animal Services by supporting programs and services that further its vision of providing compassionate care of shelter animals and finding positive outcomes for all placeable pets.
Your gift will support Dallas Animal Services with things like enrichment for shelter pets, the kitten nursery, the foster program, veterinary staff and supplies, and urgent shelter needs.
FRIENDS OF DALLAS ANIMAL SERVICES - RACIAL EQUITY STATEMENT
At Friends of Dallas Animal Services we respect and value diverse life experiences and heritages and ensure that all voices are valued and heard. We recognize the pervasive racial inequities resulting from systemic racism and unjust practices, and fully support City Council Resolutions 19-0804 and 21-0503, which address racial equity in the City of Dallas.
We're committed to modeling diversity and inclusion, and to maintaining an inclusive environment with equitable treatment for all. To provide informed, authentic leadership Friends of Dallas Animal Services strives to:
*See diversity, inclusion, and equity as connected to our mission and critical to ensure the well-being of our volunteers and the communities we serve.
*Acknowledge and dismantle any inequities within our policies, systems, programs, and services, and continually update and report organizational progress.
*Explore potential underlying, unquestioned assumptions that interfere with inclusiveness.
*Advocate for and support board-level thinking about how systemic inequities impact our organization's work, and how best to address that in a way that is consistent with our mission.
*Help to challenge assumptions about what it takes to be a strong leader at our organization, and who is well-positioned to provide leadership.
*Practice and encourage transparent communication in all interactions.
