The Friends of the Frisco Public Library is a non-profit organization that helps enrich our community by inviting its members to volunteer for programs that promote public relations and fundraising opportunities on behalf of our library.
The Friends of the Frisco Public Library depends on monetary donations as well as donations of gently used books, games and media which we then resell in our Bookshop. We also need volunteers to support the Bookshop and annual or lifetime memberships to carry out our mission.
The Library's needs include financial donations to be used to enhance hands on STEAM activity items for elementary aged children as well as technology for workforce development and community engagement. In late 2022 the Frisco Public Library will move to a new location a few blocks south. There are new and exciting things being added in the new facility which include an expansion of the Friend's sponsored Ready to Read Railroad Playscape as well as more community meeting space, technology programing and services.
We also accept donations of gently used books for resale in our Bookshop. We will have our own retail space in the new library which will rely solely on volunteers to staff. We will need more volunteers to assist during all library hours preparing books for sale, merchandising and staffing as sales people in the Bookshop. The Bookshop is a daily fundraiser for the Friends organization.
Friends memberships are available at various levels. They include: $25 Individual membership, a $50 Family Membership, a $250 Business Membership, and $500 to $1,000 Lifetime Membership.
Friends sells an exclusive Christmas ornament each year which is a community landmark or building. The 2022 ornament is the New Library façade and we expect to sell quite a few!
The Friends of the Frisco Public Library encourage gifts, endowments, and memorials for/ to the Library; to build awareness and public support for expanding library services, to provide direct financial assistance to the Library for the purchase of special and unusual goods or services, which are of great benefit, but cannot be purchased from the Library's budget. Examples include the building and growth of the Ready to Read Railroad into a fully Tiny Town experience for our youngest patrons. We also purchased the Trail Blazer Press which allows patrons to self-publish a book right inside the library!
