Imagine adults with unique intellectual abilities laughing, making friends, volunteering in their community and living life together. This is happening with over 45 adults with unique intellectual abilities at the Soaring eagle Center (SEC) located in DeSoto, Texas.

Through the SEC day program, Special Olympics teams, volunteer opportunities and social events our adults with unique intellectual abilities are learning new skills, developing new friendships and having new experiences in the community. Our programs are growing as we serve more adults in southern Dallas and northern Ellis counties.

Thanks to your generosity last year, we purchased our third van to regularly bring our adults into the community of DeSoto and beyond. Your partnership made our 20th Anniversary celebration at the 2023 Christmas Banquet memorable with a catered dinner and gifts for all our adults participating in our programs. Thanks to your generous support each of our participants know they are celebrated!

Generous gifts have allowed us to make our program more accessible by expanding our Monday through Friday day program to include before and after care. Tuition assistance through donor funded scholarships has helped families access our ever growing program.

We celebrate and thank all those who donate or otherwise support our mission and our unique and special adults.

Our Needs

Our GREATEST need is $40,000 to make facility repairs and upgrades that include installing safety film and replacing broken windows. Technology upgrades, including an improved security camera setup and some needed rewiring in the building promise to make daily life safer and streamlined. Additional projects and needs will enable the SEC to continue operating without debt and with an ever-increasing quality of service. These include investments into our annual Christmas Banquet, t-shirts and awards, a new marketing effort, and much needed expert life-planning assistance for our adults' parents.

You and your circle have the fun opportunity to make these many goals achievable for the SEC and the people we serve.

Our adults, teachers, parents and board thank you for your support!

Mission

Our mission is to provide services that meet the social, educational and residential challenges of persons with special needs.

Needs

Our greatest need: VOLUNTEERS!

Do you love basketball? Do you love investing in others who need help understanding the game and want to be part of a team? We NEED Special Olympics basketball coaches.
