Help a Family Take the Next Step Toward Housing Stability

At HREBA Housing Counseling, we believe families should not have to navigate one of life’s biggest financial decisions alone.

As a HUD-approved nonprofit housing counseling agency serving North Texas, we provide trusted, personalized guidance to individuals and families working toward financial stability, sustainable homeownership, and long-term housing security.

Your Gift Has a Direct Impact

It costs HREBA Housing Counseling approximately $400 to serve one housing counseling client.

That $400 helps provide the professional guidance, education, resources, and follow-up a client may need to move forward with confidence.

For some, that means preparing to purchase their first home. For others, it means improving credit, creating a realistic budget, understanding mortgage options, addressing financial barriers, or developing a plan to remain successfully housed.

$25 helps provide educational resources and financial tools.

$50 helps support counseling and client follow-up.

$100 funds one-quarter of the cost of serving a client.

$200 funds half the cost of serving a client.

$400 helps HREBA serve one housing counseling client.

$1,000 helps provide counseling services for approximately 2½ families.

What Housing Counseling Provides

Our HUD-certified housing counselors work one-on-one with clients to provide:

  • Homebuyer preparation and mortgage readiness
  • Credit and debt counseling
  • Budgeting and savings strategies
  • Personalized financial action plans
  • Pre-purchase and post-purchase counseling
  • Foreclosure and housing stability guidance
  • Bilingual education and counseling in English and Spanish
  • Homebuyer education workshops and community outreach

Our services are designed especially to reach low- and moderate-income families who may otherwise have limited access to trusted, unbiased housing guidance.

More Than a Counseling Session

Housing counseling is not simply about helping someone purchase a house.

It is about helping families understand their finances, make informed decisions, avoid costly mistakes, recognize predatory practices, build financial resilience, and create a path toward lasting housing stability.

Every family begins in a different place. Our job is to meet them there and help them determine their next best step.

This North Texas Giving Day, Sponsor a Client

When you give to HREBA Housing Counseling, you are investing directly in people.

You are helping a family sit across the table from a HUD-certified housing counselor and say:

“Here is where we are. How do we move forward?”

And you are helping ensure there is someone there to guide them.

Our goal is simple: serve more families, strengthen more households, and make trusted housing counseling accessible to those who need it most.

This North Texas Giving Day, consider making a $400 gift to sponsor the cost of serving one housing counseling client—or give at any level meaningful to you.

Together, we can help North Texas families become financially prepared, housing secure, and capable of achieving their goals.

Your gift provides the guidance. Their hard work creates the future.

Thank you for investing in stronger families and stronger North Texas communities.

Needs

We currently staff Four (4) HUD Certified Housing Counselors. The need for trusted, affordable housing guidance continues to grow across North Texas, particularly for low- and moderate-income families navigating rising housing costs, credit challenges, debt, and the increasingly complex path to homeownership. HREBA Housing Counseling provides these families with access to these trusted HUD-certified counselors who offer personalized, unbiased guidance at no cost to the client. On average, it costs our organization approximately $400 to serve each housing counseling client, covering counselor time, financial assessments, individualized action plans, educational resources, technology, follow-up, and program support. As demand for our services grows, so does our need for funding to maintain and expand our counseling capacity. Your support helps close the gap between what it costs to provide professional housing counseling and our commitment to ensuring that a family's ability to pay never determines whether they can receive the guidance they need.
