Incarnation Place was born of insight from an extraordinary coming together of black and white churches in and around the Roseland Community.
In 2009, a handful of members of the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation, St. Paul United Methodist Church and Central Dallas Church started a lay-led, weekly Bible study group. Close relationships quickly developed, and in 2015, several members pondered the lack of after-school activities for Roseland Community children as well as safety and health issues impacting residents. Through long-term relationship-building efforts between these churches and the Roseland Community, Incarnation Place focuses on the following three areas:
-
Education - starting with the teaching of early childhood developmental skills and continuing with tutoring/mentoring for K-12 students
-
Mental Health & Wellness- providing therapists and support groups for children, adolescents, and adults
-
Community Building & Economic Stability- assisting residents with employment, financial literacy and groceries; organizing Bible studies and community events
Today, Incarnation Place offers programs to approximately 3,500 children and adults in and around the Roseland Community which is a triangular-shaped area making up about half the 75204 zip code. The triangle is bounded by North Central Expressway on the west, Fitzhugh Avenue on the North and Ross Avenue on the south.
