The Nationally Ranked Law Magnet is built on a foundation of excellence, equality, and high education. Judge Barefoot Sanders oversaw took over the charge over Sam Tasby's desegregation lawsuit against Dallas Independent School District. As a seasoned United States District Judge and legal counsel to President Lyndon B. Johnson, Judge Barefoot Sanders developed a desegregation plan for the district and, in 1983, the Dallas school board agreed to implement it. Judge Sanders oversaw the slow transformation of DISD. The district remained under federal oversight until he declared it officially desegregated in 2003.
Our students and staff continue to embody the Mission and Vision of Judge Barefoot Sanders. Today, the Law Magnet honors Judge Sanders' intentions and is a model of an inclusive school, where all students—regardless of background—are given an opportunity to flourish and succeed.

The PTSA of the Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet is dedicated to the intellectual, ethical, social, and overall growth of students.
Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet has most recently ranked as the forty-eighth best high school in the nation and the sixth best high school in the state of Texas. The AP participation rate at Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet is 100%. The total minority enrollment is 94%, and 75% of students are economically disadvantaged.
100% of donations to the Judge Barefoot Sanders PTSA are spent directly on the students, faculty and administrators.
