Changing lives of Irving Homeless by providing basic services and safe spaces with dignity, hope and love.

Many Helping Hands has been serving the Irving homeless population in South Irving, since June 2013.  We have not missed a Thursday night dinner, even Holiday's and during COVID. Many Helping Hands (MHH) addresses the critical needs of the homeless community in Irving, Texas, offering vital services.  MHH has grown from serving weekly hot meals and clothing since June 2013, to operating the only Day Center in Irving, opened in July 2022, delivering a broad range of services that promote dignity and self-sufficiency. MHH is the first and only nonprofit to provide weekly homeless services in Irving, including hot meals four days a week. MHH also provides clothing, hygiene, showers, laundry, haircuts, healthcare, ID assistance, and other services.  In addition, we provide transportation to/from our Day Center, Thursday night dinners, work programs, and healthcare appointments, ensuring accessibility for those who may otherwise face mobility challenges.  With over a decade of experience, MHH has forged strong relationships with the homeless community. Its holistic, compassionate approach rooted in Christian values, emphasizing Hope, Dignity, and Love.  As street homeless numbers continue to grow, the need for MHH to expand our services is imminent.

We are excited to have a safe cool/warm place for our friends without homes to go.  We are the overflow for inclement weather shelter and had 39 clients housed, and 2 families, for 2 full weeks in January.  So far this year we have 9 individuals, and 2 families reunite with their families, purchasing one-way tickets so they are no longer homeless.  We have helped 6 people who made the decision to go to rehab by providing encouragement, recovery bibles, transportation, clothing, and hygiene for their recovery journey.  We recently had 13 women get much needed mammograms by bringing the mammogram bus to our day center and have flu vaccine's scheduled for both our locations.  We have been able to help many people with needed prescriptions, Job transportation and needed work clothing.  We are expanding the awareness of our ministry and have formed wonderful partnerships to provide resources in areas of healthcare coverage assistance, assistance with applying for disability, housing, rehabs, new clothing donations from warehouses, Job opportunities, and other Companies support etc.

Our vision is expanding our days of service to 5 days a week and offering case management to identify specific individual needs.   This expansion will ensure anyone who is homeless has access to much needed basic services, a loving community, a place to rest, get cool or warm in inclement weather, and have access to resources.

We have seen an increase in homelessness overall and now have numerous families who come to the day center for services, living in their cars.  There are limited resources for homeless families and the homeless population.

Limited affordable housing and high cost of living makes getting off the street extremely difficult, even with many of our people working.

It is important to note that 99% of the staff to support our programs are volunteers from the community.

Needs

Our biggest need is an additional van or bus to transport our clients to and from the Day Center. In addition, please help us continue to provide transportation, additional resources, bus passes for appointments, transportation to Jobs, hygiene, backpacks, tents, sunscreen, bug spray, basic needs and to help us grow our day center.

We are always in need of tennis shoes, men's jeans and other clothing items. The money will also be used to help secure legal IDs to the those that do not have a form of ID, so they are able to work.

Although we have amazing support of in-kind gifts, we do at times need to purchase cleaning supplies, laundry soap, food, paper plates, paper towels, cases of water etc.

Our Day Center has been more successful than we could have imagined, and we want to do more. We are great stewards of our donations and will be able to further impact those we support in profound ways to them and us. Opening our Day Center to 5 days a week and providing added wrap around services is our goal to help the growing homeless population.
