Family, friends, and consumers are invited to attend the meeting and become more involved in learning about, dealing with, and supporting the mentally ill and the issues that concern them.
Support Groups are Free and Open to the Public: We have many opportunities in various locations. Please see link Contact Us-- Support Groups for more information.
Education Classes are Free and Open to the Public:
- FAMILY TO FAMILY (FTF)
- PEER TO PEER (PTP)
- VISIONS FOR TOMORROW (VFT)
- GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE (GMTA)
- IN OUR OWN VOICE (IOOV)
NAMI TC sponsors the FTF and VFT programs for family members who want to learn more about mental illness. We strongly urge everyone with a family member with mental illness to enroll in a program for better understanding of the illness. NAMI TC also sponsors GMTA for adolescents ages 12 to 17 with a brain disorder. These free classes are taught by NAMI-certified instructors and provide education on mental illnesses and resources to assist and support consumers and family members. Pre-registration is required.
Additionally, IOOV program is where two trained speakers share compelling and personal testimonies of living with and overcoming the challenges posed by mental illness . Please contact us at namitc.adams@gmail.com for further information.
Helpline Support: We have both a NAMI-TC message phone center, 817-332-6677, and a NAMI TC message email center, info@namitarrant.org, for anyone who wishes to call/ write for information or help. A Helpline Committee member picks up the messages daily and returns the calls or emails. NAMI TC can help with referrals to many places where one can receive needed services, or sometimes just lend a friendly and sympathetic ear to someone who has a problem they need to discuss.
