A Cornerstone of LGBTQIA+ Performing Arts in Dallas
The Oak Lawn Band (OLB), a leading LGBTQIA+ nonprofit in Dallas, TX, has been a pillar of the community since 1980. The band provides a safe, inclusive space where LGBTQ+ people and their allies can celebrate diverse identities through music and performance.
The OLB promotes the musical arts through performances and community outreach initiatives, especially through Dallas Pride events but also through community initiatives like Juneteenth Celebrations, Earth Day Festivals, to Holocaust Memorials and Suicide Prevention Memoriam Concerts.
Last year, OLB kicked off the Dallas Pride Parade as the leading act of our season!

People of all ages, education levels, ability, and walks of life show up to be a part of this historic organization.
A Beacon of Hope and Resilience
The OLB has been a center of resilience during challenging times for the LGBTQIA+ community, offering much-needed unity and support.
Today, it continues to honor that legacy at events that promote awareness and acceptance, such as the Dallas Pride Festival.
Inspiring Texas & the World
The OLB is more than just a musical ensemble—it’s a vital part of the push for equal rights and dignity for all people.
By supporting queer people and the musical arts they love, the OLB works to extend its impact beyond Dallas, inspiring similar efforts in communities across the country and the globe.
The Oak Lawn Band, Inc. dedicates itself to serving the LGBTQ+ community and its causes as well as other communities within Texas and the United States. As such, we provide a welcoming and supportive environment for performers regardless of gender identity, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and musical ability. Oak Lawn Band believes that performing arts are essential for a healthy culture and society. As an LGBTQ+ arts organization, we acknowledge our duty to champion initiatives that promote diversity, equity and inclusion. We strive to create a safe and welcoming space where everyone can bring their authentic selves and be respected and valued for their contributions.
We demonstrate commitment to these principles by engaging in intentional acts and practices that support understanding the interconnection of cultures and humanity; exercising mutual respect for experiences and characteristics that differ from our own; and appreciating that diversity entails not only being, but knowing.
Oak Lawn Band is dedicated to creating and maintaining a culture of belonging. We are committed to having a board and members that are representative of the communities in which we serve. Efforts to realize diversity, equity and inclusion for Oak Lawn Band include but are not limited to ensure inclusive language across all policies and procedures; engage with and perform for underserved communities; and contract with diverse vendors, clinicians, composers and artists.
