At this time, Project Beloved has 3 initiatives. We distribute Beloved Bundles to rape crisis centers. A Beloved Bundle contains necessary items (clothing, hygiene products, brush) so that when a survivor goes to the hospital to have a forensic exam and their clothing is seized as evidence by law enforcement they can get showered and dressed and walk out of the hospital with dignity. To date, we have donated in excess of 23,000 Beloved Bundles.
We also partner with law enforcement and other agencies to install Soft Interview Rooms to be used when speaking to survivors of sexual assault. A Soft Interview Room takes into account the neuroscience of the impact of trauma and creates an environment which reflects research based practices associated with trauma informed care. To date, September 2024, we have installed in excess of 150 Soft Interview Rooms in Texas and other states.
We have established The Molly Jane Matheson Memorial Scholarship in Social Work at The University of Arkansas. It is awarded to two students from either Texas or Florida who are pursuing a degree in social work. We have awarded six scholarships in the amount of $2200 each and have plans to award two in 2022 for $2200 each.
