Located in the Oak Cliff area of South Dallas, Santa Clara Catholic Academy serves 133 students. SCCA is the only dual-language Catholic school in the Diocese of Dallas. 100% of our students are Hispanic and many are fully bilingual, have Spanish as their first language, or have Spanish as a family heritage language. For PreK3 - 5th Grade we follow the Gomez and Gomez dual-language model and students receive 50% of their classes taught in Spanish and 50% in English to foster biliteracy and bilingualism. 6th through 8th grades follow a traditional model of rotating classes with a strong Spanish program to maintain the Spanish proficiency they have acquired.

All SCCA's endeavors are led by dedicated international faculty and staff who represent many different countries including Africa, Peru, El Salvador, Philippines, Mexico, and the United States. All faculty and staff are committed to the mission and vision of Santa Clara of Assisi Catholic Academy and the greater calling of ministering in Catholic education.

Santa Clara of Assisi Catholic Academy (SCCA) was founded in 1994 in response to the community's need and desire for Catholic education. Since that time the academy has nurtured its students in the sacraments of the Catholic faith and fostered them with strong academic instruction.

Students are each issued a Chromebook or iPad and all classrooms are equipped with a Smartboard to ensure technology integration in all subjects. Our outdoor classroom provides an opportunity for students to not only learn about the environment but also to experience the outdoors. The music program enriches the education of all students and provides an opportunity for many to develop their musical and vocal talents. Students participate in daily Physical Education classes as well as extracurricular sports such as volleyball, soccer, and track. Weekly visits to the school library encourage and support a love of reading while art classes nurture creative outlets. Most importantly, students participate in daily prayer and religion class as well as weekly Mass and devotionals.

Giving Activity

Mission

Our mission is to support the full growth of each person in a bilingual community of academic excellence and catholic values.

Our vision is to graduate bilingual leaders who will have a life-long relationship with Christ and have the virtues, knowledge and skills needed to serve God and their community.

Needs

1. Tuition Assistance

For many families, having their students attend Santa Clara Catholic Academy (SCCA) is a sacrifice and a dream that is worth the cost. Supporting their children's spiritual and academic growth is vital to raising citizens who will grow to serve their communities with love, morals, and logic. The current cost to educate a child for the 2023-2024 school year is around $12,000; however, thanks to the support of generous donors we are able to keep our tuition rate at SCCA at $6226, which is one of the lowest rates in the Diocese of Dallas. While families are willing to work to support their children's education, economic strains oftentimes prevent families from affording the tuition rate and thus require additional financial assistance. Many times we have parents come tour our school and fall in love with our programs and our community, only to realize they cannot afford the tuition rates. Other times interested families have multiple children, and so while the cost would not be burdensome for one child, they cannot afford it for six. We are starting a new tuition assistance fund called the Our Lady of Guadalupe fund which will go directly to supporting families who would not otherwise be able to afford a Santa Clara education for their children.

2. Fine Arts and Special Programs

We are blessed to have a fully functioning student kitchen for our Food Science Club. We also are hoping to enrich and expand our Art and Music programs. Check out the Food Science, Art, and Music fundraiser pages to support the Arts at Santa Clara!

3. Playground improvements

We are blessed with a large and safe enclosed field with a basketball court where students can play for recess, as well as two playgrounds. We are blessed to have attained funding to add many improvements such as new games, benches, and tables. Depending on the level of donor support, our goals for this year are to continue to make it a more inviting space by purchasing things such as mulch and new sod.

Equity Statement

St. Clare teaches us to see God in all things, and this is most especially true of people. Each person is a child of God who has been blessed with a heritage that fosters his or her unique qualities. Santa Clara of Assisi Catholic Academy welcomes families of all cultures, races, and ethnicities to join with us in promoting and supporting Catholic education for our children.
